On May 31, we celebrate the White Stork Day. The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is an impressive bird that has symbolized happiness, fertility and the Polish countryside in our culture for centuries. Our country is one of their favorite places - every fourth stork in the world builds its nest here. Currently, the number of stork pairs in Poland is estimated at around 40,000. Unfortunately, despite this praiseworthy statistic, the number of nesting storks is decreasing year by year. The reasons are climate change, the disappearance of meadows and inappropriate human behavior, such as littering the environment.

In nature, there are fungi that turn their victims into mindless zombies programmed for only one purpose: to spread the parasite's spores. They are so effective that the truth is much more terrifying than in the series "The Last of Us". At least for the hosts, among which fortunately there is no human. For now.

Nature is characterized by the occurrence of rigid principles, rules, norms and regularities. Scientific research has allowed the formulation of several ecogeographic rules concerning the relationships that occur between the physiognomy of animals and the environmental factors of the climate in which they live.

Neither a beaver nor a rat, or a Hydromys. World Rat Day is celebrated on April 4, while April 7 is International Beaver Day. The Hydromys does not have its own day, so we will honor it by making it our April object of the month.

On the occasion of the butterfly day, we wish all butterflies that they do not have to be endangered. And for us, that they please our eyes. Today's post will be about butterflies, but note - we focused only on those that you can see with your own eyes at our exhibitions. And these are just a few of the many attractions we have.
