Block C4: Ethology

The collections presented in the “Ethology” block refer to selected issues concerning various animal behaviours.

In the central part there is a thermite mound and a number of animal species closely linked to the presence of thermites. Much attention has been devoted to modifications of the body structure of birds depending on the quality and the way of obtaining different types of food. Furthermore, the block also explains and presents two types of habitats – air and water – and various ways of moving around in them. The issues of taking care of the offspring, mating behaviours and various ways of defending against predators also have dedicated showcases. The table showcases present the behaviour of different groups of social insects, as well as antagonistic and non-antagonistic relations between organisms.
