Block C5: Evolutionary Mechanisms

The “Evolutionary Mechanisms” block showcases various issues related to evolutionism.

Starting off with the basic definitions of species, speciation and its modes, as well as links between species, the collection follows up with changes that occurred in the structure of the skeletal system from fish to mammals, enabling the visitors to see the similarities and differences in the morphology of mammalian skulls, as well as to learn about divergence and convergence processes. Much attention was paid to the phenomenon of individual variability induced by reproductive and environmental behaviours, with particular emphasis placed on mutations and developmental defects.
